INSS, a leading provider of custom two-photon microscopes for neuroscience research, is seeking a highly skilled Multiphoton Microscopy Expert to join our dynamic team. We offer unique "Assisted-DIY" solutions for cost-efficient bespoke equipment, leveraging decades of experience in designing and building custom equipment for neuroscience research.
About the Role:
We are looking for an exceptionally knowledgeable and versatile professional to fill a multifaceted role as a high-end service & installation engineer who can also contribute to R&D, technical sales and quality control. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and contribute to innovative neuroscience research worldwide. The role requires regular physical presence at our Brighton location for building/testing/troubleshooting microscopes as well as frequent national and international travel for installation and service visits to our clients’ labs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, install, and troubleshoot multiphoton microscopes
- Travel internationally for on-site installations and service visits
- Contribute to design, implementation and quality control of custom-built microscopy solutions
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in a relevant discipline (neuroscience, biomedical engineering, optical physics, etc.)
- Technical/analytical/detail-oriented mindset
- Hands-on experience with building and troubleshooting multiphoton microscopes
- Proficiency with ScanImage software
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Willingness to travel internationally frequently
Desired Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with in vivo neuroscience experiments in rodents, zebrafish, drosophila, or other model organisms
- Programming skills in Matlab, Python, LabVIEW, or similar languages
- Prior industry experience
- Optical design experience with Zemax
- Experience with CAD design software (e.g., Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor)
